| I am finally back in school. I am really looking forward to my time here at Northland. I am hoping to really grow closer to Christ and also to become prepared for whatever ministry God has for me. I hope that during my years here the Lord will prepare me to do whatever it takes to glorify him and reach the lost. Phil. 1:21 | | |
| It's all over. My last final was this morning at 8:00. It always seems like the hardest final is the last one of the semester, and all of the waiting for it to be over gets so stressful. Music History can be a big pain. I had an hour or less of sleep about 7 or 8 times for that class this semester. The rest of my classes were pretty good, including my piano jury and formal admission. At least it's over for three months. | | |
| Well, the fifteen page Music History research paper is done! 1 page on Saturday, 8 pages on Sunday and 8 pages on Monday equal 1 hour of sleep each night Sunday and Monday and too many pages. The Calvinist voice inside of me says "Am I glad that's over!"
Then I had to work tonight.
I am performing the 3rd movement of Mozart's Piano Sonata in A minor K 310 in practicum on Thursday. That should be "exciting!"
| The last few weeks have been quite busy. Two weeks ago my church went to the Men for Christ rally in Ankeny Iowa at Faith Baptist Bible College (they tried to steal me and make me a student ). The rally was great. I loved hearing Dr. Tim Jordan and Dr. Bob Jones. All of their messages are so clear and they always speak to me right where I need it. I always enjoy hearing them. There were a lot of other great preachers that I heard. The theme of the rally was leaving a Godly legacy, and I was really motivated to be a better testimony of Christ to people around me and my family.
Tuesday night while I was working at Menards, some guy stole a drill worth several hundred dollars. I was working at a cash register and I had a lot of people coming through my line. This guy came to my register while I was helping someone else and asked about a rebate for the drill. I told him he would have to look at the rebate section or talk to a manager to find out the rebate value. He just stood there for several minutes and then he asked me the same question and I told him the same thing. Then he walked over to the managers desk and stood there for about 30 seconds. I kept on ringing up customers, and then the customer that I was helping told me that the man had just gone out the door with the drill. I called the managers and four of them ran out the door. One of the managers saw him and she was able to get his licence number. The problem is that the guy lives in another suburb, and the Crestwood police can't do much about it. I have no idea whether they will try to get the drill back. It's annoying that he can get away that easily. That's one of the problems with Chicago and all of the suburbs.
The rest of my time has been spent trying to finish up this semester. There is less than a month left. I have been practicing a lot of music lately for finals. I guess I have been reading a civil war history book for fun the last few days.
| Two days ago I was very surprised to hear of Kirby Pucket's stroke. It was much more shocking when I found out that he had passed away. He was only 45. He was one of my favorite professional atheletes. Being that I was originally from Minnesota, and he played his entire carreer there, I became a pretty big fan. He is considered to be one of the greatest players in history. The Minnesota Twins won the 87 and 91 World Series with him. It was really sad when he was forced to leave baseball early due to eye problems. I hope he was trusting in Christ as his Saviour which is what matters most. He seemed to like being nice to kids, but the most important thing is whether or not he accepted Christ.
I never saw him play, but I did go to some Twins games. Here are some pictures from last summer when we went to a game with our cousins.

In a few weeks. The Illinois primary will be coming up. Illinois Family Institute is trying to pass an ammendment in November that would ban gay marriage. They are looking for volunteers to stand outside the polling booths to get signatures for the ammendment. I am working for them kind of part time right now. They have a website where you can find info. http://illinoisfamily.org Or you can talk to me if you are interested. They need nearly 300,000 signatures. It is very important that they get the signatures. It could have a major impact on the future. You can also check out http://protectmarriageillinois.org for more information and petitions. Thanks!
